MSB’s Director General led a delegation to Washington
Last week, MSB’s Director General Charlotte Petri Gornitzka led a delegation to Washington, to attend the annual high level meeting with US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T), under the auspices of the bilateral Research and Development Agreement.


The agreement, which was signed in Washington DC in 2007, is implemented and developed by MSB on behalf of the Swedish government. The meeting was held at DHS’ new headquarters at S:t Elizabeth, hosted by the new head of S&T, Under Secretary Dimitri Kusnezov. The agenda included interesting discussions about research- and development needs related to Sweden’s Total Defence reinvigoration, critical infrastructure protection and the effects of climate change on the homeland security enterprise. The DG also met with Jen Easterly, Director of the US Cybersecurity and
Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and continued discussions on how to deepen the partnership with FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell. In addition, a roundtable discussion moderated by the McCain Institute’s Executive Director Evelyn Farkas, was hosted by the Finnish Embassy, on the topic of societal resilience and lessons learned from Ukraine.
