The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) is responsible for issues concerning civil protection, public safety, emergency management and civil defence as long as no other authority has responsibility. Responsibility refers to measures taken before, during and after an emergency or crisis.

Building resilience to strengthen disaster risk reduction

October 13 marks the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. At MSB, we work with international capacity development projects to prevent and manage crises and disasters. The MSB mandate stems from the framework of the Swedish development aid policy and the European development agenda.

The rescEU medical stockpile in Sweden is ready to provide assistance

The medical stockpile for which Sweden, through MSB, has been assigned responsibility has now started to fill up with equipment to be kept in stock and can thus be used in European preparedness.
"Many people have been working hard since September last year when we received the assignment and we are happy to say that the stockpile is now ready for use," says Robert Wallén, Head of Response and Operations Department, MSB.
