Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency adds beds and power plants to transport to Türkiye

Another shipment of equipment was sent to Türkiye today. This delivery is an important supplement to the 300 family tents that were flown out on Sunday and consists of several larger tents, beds, mattresses, food and electricity.

This donation comes from the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, which also manages the logistics and transport as well as cooperation with actors on the ground in Türkiye. The donation was made via NATO-EADRCC (Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre). The material was then transported, in cooperation with the Türkiye Lions Club, to the same location the family tents were sent to last Sunday.

- The tents that the Agency flew down on Sunday have been donated by the Lions and they have been working hard since then to assemble them, almost all 300 tents have now been erected. What has just been flown out is donated by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency and constitutes a necessary supplement to make the tents ready for use by earthquake victims, says Project Manager Frida Salomonsson.

The Civil Contingencies Agency is following the situation in Türkiye and Syria on an ongoing basis and will continue to send additional resources and experts as and when requested. At the same time, more longer-term, continued support is under preparation for the people affected.

A close dialogue is maintained with staff on site in Türkiye and partner organizations in both countries and there is also collaboration with the other Nordic countries regarding support. The Agency is also Sweden's contact point for NATO Civilian Crisis Coordination and the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
