Dan Eliasson has requested to be transferred from his position as Director General of MSB
Eliasson discussed the possibility of continuing as Director General. He said he regards this as difficult given the reactions there have been, and that these reactions moreover make it harder for MSB to carry out its important mission. Home Affairs Minister Mikael Damberg expressed his understanding of this and said that he shared Eliasson’s assessment. January 6 Dan Eliasson has therefore made a request to be transferred from his position as agency head and Director General of MSB. The government will shortly be making a decision in this matter.
– The important thing is not me as a person. The important thing is how we as a society handle the pandemic, and that the focus is entirely on that incredibly important task. The reason for my decision is that MSB as a government agency must have the best possible conditions for carrying out its important mission. That is why I have today requested to be transferred from my position, says Dan Eliasson.
Earlier this week Home Affairs Minister Mikael Damberg called a meeting with Dan Eliasson to hear his view and talk through the situation that had arisen. That meeting was planned for Thursday, January 7.
Dan Eliasson took up the position as Director General of MSB in March 2018. He has previously served as National Police Commissioner and as Director General of Försäkringskassan (the Swedish Social Insurance Agency) and of the Swedish Migration Agency, among other positions.
