The Director General for MSB, Mr Dan Eliasson, is visiting Washington D.C. this week to contribute to a conference on Strategic Communication at the House of Sweden.

The conference brings together people within academia, think tanks, governments and other experts to discuss strategic communication and disinformation. The conference is co-hosted by the Swedish Embassy and Atlantic Council.

During his visit, DG MSB will also continue to foster the important cooperation Sweden has with the US, through the Agreement on Cooperation in Science and Technology for Homeland Security Matters that was signed over 10 years ago. The primary points of contact for the agreement is MSB and the Directorate for Science and Technology (S&T) of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The scope of the agreement is broad, and it serves as a tool to further cooperation in areas of shared interest, with the aim to strengthen societal resilience. Areas of cooperation include community resilience, strategic communication and countering disinformation, cyber security, tools and methods for emergency management, capabilities and equipment for the future needs of first responders, risk and crisis communication as well as preventing and countering violent extremism. DG MSB will meet with several components within DHS to follow up on ongoing work, and explore new possible avenues of cooperation.
