Vision, concept and cornerstone

Tip a friend about this article
Below are the MSB’s vision, concept, and cornerstone. Combined they form our identity.

The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency was established 1 January 2009 and replaced the Swedish Rescue Services Agency (SRSA), the Swedish Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Swedish National Board of Psychological Defence.

A safer society in a changing world.

In collaboration with other stakeholders the MSB develops the individual’s and society’s capacity to prevent, deal with and learn from emergencies and disasters.
We operate via knowledge-building, support, education, training, regulation, supervision and our own operational work in close cooperation with the municipalities, the county councils, other authorities, the private sector, and organisations to achieve increased safety and security at all levels of society – from the local to the global community.

We are an open, competent, and energetic authority, focusing both on the individual and on society as a whole.
